I was recently certified as a CVR (Collateral Valuation Report) Specialist. The CVR is the appraisers’ answer to bpo’s and avm’s with the added benefit of regression analysis..
CVR’s cannot be used for loan origination or refinancing as they are governed by the GSE’s. However, they are quite useful for HELOC, Estate and other real property appraisals. The cost is lower than full appraisals and they performed and signed by an appraiser.
